Privacy Policy
Last updated: 16 August 2026
PickBeast has no accounts and no sign-up, so there is very little for us to collect. This page lists everything we collect, why, and how long we keep it — and what the advertising on the site collects, which is handled by Google rather than by us.
| What | Why | Kept for |
|---|---|---|
| Nickname | So other players in your room can tell who is who. You type it yourself and it never has to be your real name. | Until the room is deleted (2 hours after the last activity) |
| Room and round data | The room code, who is in it, which character each player picked, and the result of the round. | Until the room is deleted (2 hours after the last activity) |
| Shared result cards | If someone taps the share button after a round, we save the one line the card shows — the game, the character, and the name that was on screen — so the link keeps working after the room is gone. Nothing else from the round is kept, and no card exists unless someone shares one. | 30 days |
| Visit log | Which pages get opened, so we know what people actually play. | 5 years |
| IP fingerprint | A one-way hash of your IP address, used to tell separate visitors apart in the counts and to stop scripted abuse. The IP address itself is never stored and the hash cannot be turned back into it. | 5 years |
| Our cookies | Two of them: one remembers the language you chose, the other is a random id used to count unique visitors. Neither is used for advertising. | 1 year (how long your browser keeps them) |
| Advertising cookies and identifiers | The ads on this site are served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may read and set their own cookies or device identifiers to choose which ads you see, to limit how often you see the same one, and to measure whether an ad worked. We never see this data ourselves — see “Advertising” below for how to turn it off. | Set and kept by Google under its own policy, not ours |
No accounts, no marketing
There is nothing to sign up for, so we never collect an email address, a phone number, a date of birth, or a payment detail. We never send you anything, and we do not build advertising profiles ourselves — the profiling behind the ads you see is Google's, and it is described below.
Advertising
PickBeast is free to play and is paid for by advertising. Google AdSense serves the ads. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site and to other sites, and its advertising partners may do the same. You can turn personalised advertising off at https://www.google.com/settings/ads, opt out of many other vendors at https://www.aboutads.info/choices, and read what Google collects on partner sites at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. Turning it off does not remove the ads; it only makes them less relevant.
Who else touches this data
The site runs on a hosting provider and stores data in Supabase (a managed Postgres service); both process data only to run the service on our behalf. Google AdSense is different — it acts on its own account as an independent controller of what it collects for advertising, under its own privacy policy. We do not sell or rent your data to anyone.
Children
The games suit all ages, but PickBeast is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect anything from them beyond what is listed above — which contains nothing that identifies a person by name. If you believe a child has given us something more, write to us and we will delete it.
Your choices
You can clear the cookies in your browser at any time; the site keeps working and you simply get counted as a new visitor. For advertising specifically, use the opt-out links under “Advertising” above. Because nothing is tied to an account, we cannot look up records belonging to a specific person on request.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it.
